Paul Finebaum uncertain about Deion Sanders' future at Colorado, makes case to take different job
Paul Finebaum is still of the belief Deion Sanders won’t stay at Colorado forever and would leave Boulder under the right circumstances.
Finebaum didn’t name names, but if a major college program decides to come after Sanders, Coach Prime is as good as gone. That’s from the ESPN commentator, not Sanders himself.
It’ll be a new look Colorado team next year with Shedeur and Shilo Sanders off to the NFL, as well as Heisman winner Travis Hunter.
“I mean, we were in the middle of the portal, so (Deion) can’t say I’m thinking about the Cowboys job or the Raiders job,” Finebaum said on First Take. “So I don’t know him like you do, I want to believe him, but I also know that if one of these NFL owners come along, or, like Stephen A. alluded, one of these blue chip college programs, I don’t know how he could turn it down.
“He’s losing the two players that have ignited this program. And while there are other players coming from the portal, he’s getting some big ones, are there enough? Does he go through the same thing every year? I still believe that somebody will come after him, and I think he’ll take it when it’s offered.”

Sanders recently spoke about his future and stated he will stay in Boulder until it’s all finished.
“I love where I am. I’m elated [about] where I am. I’m happy where I am. I can’t wait to see what the future holds with where I am, and I love Boulder, Colorado,” Sanders said on The Pacman Jones Show. “I have every intention, every plan in the world to be coaching for the Colorado Buffs from here on. I want to finish here. I want to put the flag — I want my name on the mountains out there. I want to put my flag down in Colorado.”
Sanders is 13-11 in two seasons at Colorado, including a 9-3 record this year with the Buffaloes slated to play in the Alamo Bowl against BYU. He went 27-6 at Jackson State in three seasons.
As far as the future is concerned, Sanders continued to land impact players in the transfer portal and recently signed five-star QB Julian Lewis, seen as the future star and replacement for son Shedeur Sanders.
