Buford (Ga.) High linebacker Mantrez Walker announced his commitment to head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado on Saturday shortly before the Buffaloes spring game.

A former Michigan commit, the 5-foot-11, 220-pound Walker chose Colorado over the other schools in his top five of LSU, Miami, Penn State and Ole Miss.

“What made them right was that they made it clear to me that I was there No. 1 guy and that they feel like I can come in there system and make an impact early,” Walker said.

As a junior, Walker had 54 tackles and four stops for loss playing for one of the Peach State’s top programs and ranks as the On3 Industry’s No. 69 linebacker in the country. Walker also visited Boulder during the fall and looks forward to suiting up for Sanders.

“This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to play for a Hall of Fame and I feel that he’s doing nothing but going in the right direction and moving with the changing of college football.”
