Phillip Houston injury update: Deion Sanders hoping for better news than initial diagnosis
Deion Sanders hopes that Colorado hasn’t lost Phillip Houston for what remains of this season.
Sanders spoke about Houston’s status following the 37-21 loss for the Buffaloes to Kansas on Saturday. He said that they’re hoping for better news than what was the initial diagnosis from his injury in the fourth quarter being a torn ACL.
“Well, we’re hoping he didn’t tear an ACL,” Sanders said postgame to the media. “That’s what we thought. That’s what they’re thinking right now. I’m hoping that’s not the case.”
Still, even if Colorado is without the junior offensive tackle, Sanders thinks they have enough options to get them through the final game of the regular season and potentially any games from there if they were to tiebreak into the Big 12 Championship or still manage to make the College Football Playoff.
“Thank God we have depth,” said Sanders. “We have tremendous depth on the offensive line.”
Houston is in his first season with Colorado after a year at Navarro College and then two more at Florida International. He has been their starting right tackle for the majority of this year.

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet as far as Houston’s knee. If he is out, though, the Buffaloes will look elsewhere on the offensive line while they could still get him back with two years of collegiate eligibility remaining for him.
