Robert Livingston promises to vouch for Colorado players to NFL scouts
Since Deion Sanders first got to Colorado, the program has had some notable ties to the NFL. That includes both coordinators going into the 2024 season, with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur and defensive coordinator Robert Livingston both having spent time in the NFL during their careers.
Those NFL ties are something that Livingston knows can be massively beneficial for his players. In particular, it gives him the ability to speak to NFL scouts and coaches, vouching for the players he’s coached in the process.
“I’ll vouch for those guys to anybody,” Robert Livingston said. “Again, they just gave us six months of the hardest thing they can do, and they put us in this position. We’re here because of the players we have.”
The most notable player who Livingston coached during his time at Colorado was Travis Hunter. A two-way player who played defensive back as well as wide receiver, Hunter won the Heisman Trophy and is now expected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
While Hunter’s success speaks for itself, other players on Colorado aren’t as well known. Still, Livingston will advocate for those players as they attempt to continue their football journey in the NFL too. Defensive back Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, linebacker LaVonta Bentley, defensive back Preston Hodge, and defensive end BJ Green are among the players who could be looking at the NFL next season.

“Yeah, I’m pulling for them. I’ll pick up the phone and call anybody because they’ve answered the bell for us. So I think obviously the more guys that have success, the more guys want to come. That’s the selfish part about college football. Let’s be honest with each other. If you get four guys drafted, then more players want to come play for you. That’s the way it goes,” Livingston said.
“So we have phenomenal young men that I think have bright, bright futures at the next level.”
Deion Sanders praises Pat Shurmur, Robert Livingston for job they did at Colorado this season
Following the Alamo Bowl, Deion Sanders took the time to praise his coordinators Pat Shurmur and Robert Livingston.
“They did a wonderful job. I’m proud of them. I love them. They know how to communicate with all of our young men. They really put them in positions for them to be extremely successful, and I love where we’re headed. I’m proud of those two,” Sanders said.
“Not just those two, the whole staff. I’m pretty sure a couple of them are going to come in my office about elevation because people are going to want them on their staffs, and that’s what we’re here for. We’re here to advance people. You either get terminated or elevated; it’s either going to be one of the two sooner or later.”
