Just over a week before the long-awaited College Football 25 video game drops, EA Sports released multiple player rankings. That includes the Top 8 quarterbacks in the game, headlined by Carson Beck and Shedeur Sanders.

Beck and Sanders both came in as 93 OVR, just ahead of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. That meant the two tied for the best quarterback in the game, which officially releases next week and features players’ name, image and likeness for the first time.

But something about Shedeur Sanders’ rating didn’t set well with his father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. Speaking on NFL Network’s The Insiders after Big 12 Media Days, “Coach Prime” wondered how two quarterbacks could be tied for the top spot.

“How’s there a tie? … That’s like, do you hate so bad that you’ve got to give them a tie?” Sanders said. “There ain’t to ties in football. There ain’t no ties. We don’t want no tie. No. We ain’t accepting no tie. Ain’t no tie. Just say what it is. … You get him off this team and take the other one, put him on my team and see what the record is.”

In addition to tying for the top quarterback in EA Sports College Football 25, Shedeur Sanders came in as the No. 17 overall player in the video game, which releases July 16 to users who purchased the deluxe edition and officially comes out July 19. His famous watch celebration will also be featured.

Sanders is one of more than 14,000 players to opt in to the game through an NIL program with EA Sports, facilitated by OneTeam and CLC worked hand-in-hand to facilitate the NIL deals. Athletes receive $600 plus a copy of the game for their participation.

What’s at stake for Shedeur Sanders in 2024

Sanders is generating some early Heisman Trophy and NFL Draft buzz this year, including comparisons to Seattle Seahawks standout Geno Smith. His father said he and Travis Hunter could be the top two picks in the draft as they look to continue building a connection that began when they played under Deion Sanders at Jackson State.

Last year, Shedeur Sanders adjusted well to Power 5 football at Colorado. He threw for 3,320 yards, 27 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 11 games under center in 2023. Coach Prime said he’s also taking his game to a new level this year, and it’s already showing.

“Work on some of the little, mechanical things,” Deion Sanders said. “He has a tremendous quarterback coach out of Houston. He does a wonderful job.

“But he works on the little things and not just the mechanics of footwork and everything and ball placement and releases, but getting to know his players, his receivers, where they want the ball. You can see in seven-on-sevens, after practice, grabbing a guy, pulling them to the side, and he’s telling him what he saw.”
