Shedeur Sanders engineered a game winning drive in Colorado’s 27-24 win over Arizona State and Deion Sanders revealed the message to his son just prior to stepping onto the field.

Shedeur led the Buffaloes on a five-play, 50 yard drive in 38 seconds. It was capped off with an Alejandro Mata 43-yard field goal.

That came after ASU tied things up late following a Colorado punt. Deion Sanders wasn’t surprised at what his son did in the end.

“I believe in mine,” Sanders said postgame. “Why do you think I brought him here? He don’t miss. Call timeout and freeze them all you want, they don’t miss. He is who he is. That’s what he always says to me when I walk over to him again. He says ‘I don’t miss.’ And I love him. So I told him to do your thing. Do your thing. Get your shine on. Your moment baby. Live it. That’s what I told him.”

Shedeur Sanders finished the game 26-of-42 passing for 239 yards and one touchdown. It wasn’t the flashiest win for Colorado, considering Deion said the team played like “hot garbage,” but they got the win.

If that was the overall theme, at least Colorado still won its fourth game of the year. Most outlets projected the Buffs’ win total at 3.5 for the season.

Shedeur Sanders delivers in game-winning drive

Safe to say, Shedeur Sanders and the team are just different. The quarterback broke down the game-winning drive: it was normal.

“It was just like practice,” Sanders said. “Just trusting the play call. Understand what time it is. They left too much time on the clock and we knew that. Nobody on the sideline panicked or flinched. Nobody didn’t believe. I definitely knew what was going to happen because you’re going to do what it takes to win. But they simply left too much time on the clock.”

Sanders connected with Javon Antonio on a 43-yard pass on the first play, putting Colorado in field goal range. Four plays later, Mata hit the kick and hearts were broken in Tempe.

Maybe it’s not exactly how Colorado and Deion Sanders wanted to win this one, but a win is a win.

Shedeur Sanders and crew return home next weekend for another Pac-12 contest, this time against Stanford. That’ll be the last game before a much needed bye week.

That could bring back two-way start Travis Hunter on October 28 against UCLA. For now, Shedeur Sanders can bask in the glow for a second and celebrate a much needed win.
