Shedeur Sanders sets expectations for young Colorado wide receivers in 2025
While Shedeur Sanders won’t be in Boulder suited up in a Colorado uniform in 2025, the young receivers will be.
Guys like Isaiah Hardge, Terrell Timmons Jr., Dre’lon Miller and Kaleb Mathis, who were all WR2s on the depth chart, are eligible to come back. Sanders sees a lot of promise for the corps next season.
Whether it’s transfer Kaidon Salter or freshman Julian Lewis throwing the football, the offense could certainly be explosive again.
“Great because those young guys played and helped us out tremendously, so they understand the standard,” Sanders said. “They understand overall even just playing with me, so they know out of the next quarterback that comes in, which they’re both already here, they know the standard and they know what they should be doing, and they’ll be able to communicate and still have contact with me to be able to still help them out overall.”
Miller led the previously mentioned younger wideouts in production this past season. He finished with 32 catches for 277 yards and two touchdowns.
The rest of them only combined for five catches, but now with an opportunity to step up, Colorado could be in good hands. Of course, there’s always the transfer portal to add some ready-made talent.

Not just in the case of wide receivers, but all young players, Colorado got them some experience with a bowl game and the practices leading up.
“It’s been wonderful seeing the guys come in with a hunger,” Colorado safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig said. “They kind of caught on how we get things done. I know I talked to one guy, I was like, it’s your first time getting yelled at by Coach Prime so you’re getting broke in. But these guys coming in, they’re very — they’re way more humble than I thought. These guys are very quiet trying to listen and learn everything, so I’m going to be happy for these guys coming in. They’re going to do some big things.”
Sanders finished the season with 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 74% completion percentage. He’ll surely be the first or second QB taken in this year’s NFL Draft.
So that’ll be tough to replace next year. But if the wide receivers are as good as advertised, perhaps Colorado can usher in the next set of play makers.
