Shedeur Sanders shares what bowl eligibility means for Colorado
Colorado has had a remarkable turnaround under head coach Deion Sanders, aided by the presence of quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
On Saturday, the program became bowl eligible for the first time since 2020 when it knocked off Cincinnati 34-23 to improve to 6-2 on the season. Even the team’s two losses are quite respectable, first on the road at Nebraska, then by just three points to a ranked Kansas State team at home.
But securing bowl eligibility is a real marker for where the program is.
“I think it’s just a small accolade for us to be able to know that we’re going on the right track,” Shedeur Sanders said on his 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders podcast. “That’s like if you’re working out, you start seeing your abs showing, you know you’re doing the right thing.”
Colorado has the chance to finish strong and really make a statement, too.
There are tough but winnable games at Texas Tech and Kansas, as well as home dates with Utah and Oklahoma State. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that the Buffaloes could win them all.

For now, securing bowl eligibility is a small motivator for the team.
“I think it’s just showing us keeping us on the right track, keeping us focused and keeping us hungry,” Shedeur Sanders said.
ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum impressed
The job Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes done has thoroughly impressed ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum, who has been critical of how coach Deion Sanders has handled things at times.
Finebaum spoke out after Saturday’s win, giving Colorado and especially Sanders their dues.
“It is a remarkable story, and I think the media is now going to start gravitating and pulling back like they did before last season,” Finebaum said. “But I think that’s also been advantageous for him … Can you imagine having to entertain like he had to entertain the beginning of this season and last season? I mean, when the A-listers show up, you just can’t, like, wave at them. You have to, you know, make sure their G5 is met by (a) limousine with caviar. So I mean you can’t leave Shay Shay standing by himself. I think he’s just coaching football right now and you know what? He’s a really good coach.”
