Shedeur Sanders took a shot on a late hit in the first half of Saturday’s game against Kansas that left him grimacing in pain. Jayhawks defensive end Dean Miller came barreling in low as Sanders released the ball and hit the Colorado quarterback on his knees, sending him flying through the air.

Surprisingly, no flag was thrown on the play despite many fans calling out the hit for being dirty on social media. Thankfully, Sanders was not seriously hurt as he got up on his own after staying on the ground for a few moments. You can view the play below.

Sanders has been efficient in the first half, completing 12-of-13 passes for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also has two carries for 23 yards rushing.

Despite this, Colorado trails Kansas by a score of 23-14 at halftime as the defense has been unable to stop the Jayhawks rushing attack.

The Buffaloes would come as close as within two points in the second half before the Jayhawks pulled away for a 37-21 upset victory. The Buffaloes now finds themselves in a four-way tie for first place in the Big 12 with one week remaining in the regular season.

Sanders finished the game a respectable 23-of-29 passing for 266 yards and three touchdowns. He’ll look to continue that level of play as Colorado fights to get in the Big 12 title game next week in its regular season finale against Oklahoma State.

Shedeur Sanders shoves referee, FOX rules official calls him ‘lucky he wasn’t ejected from the game’

After Shedeur Sanders got sacked in the third quarter of Saturday’s game against Kansas, players from both KU and Colorado exchanged words. In the middle of the scrum, Sanders appeared to shove the head referee, and FOX rules analyst Mike Pereira called him “lucky he wasn’t ejected from the game.”

Sanders went down after multiple Jayhawks sacked him for a loss on third down. One player appeared to start celebrating while walking over him, and he took exception and wanted a flag called. Somewhere in the middle of the exchange, he appeared to push the head referee.

After reviewing the replay, Pereira called it a clear shove. While the officials can get in the middle of a scuffle to shut it down, he said players can’t, and he said Sanders could’ve been ejected.

“There’s no question that he does,” Pereira said on the FOX broadcast. “Look, I get why he’s upset because people are almost climbing over him after he was down. The officials can use their hands all they want to try to keep order but you cannot come back, as a player, and push an official. In the chaos, the officials don’t see it, but he’s lucky that he wasn’t ejected from the game.”
