Deion Sanders gives medical update on Shilo Sanders ahead of USC game
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders gave a medical update regarding his son Shilo Sanders ahead of the USC game.
Shilo said he was urinating blood after the loss to Oregon. He was transported to the emergency room when the team returned to Boulder.
However, Shilo’s status is up in the air regarding the matchup with USC according to Deion Sanders.
“He’s doing better,” Sanders said of his son. “We went to the hospital right after we landed. He’s doing much better. We’re praying that he heals and he’s playing this weekend. He’s a valuable part of our secondary and our team defensively.
“(Shilo’s) one of the voices on the defense and he plays with a certain physicality that we desire and we want and he’s given me daily updates trust me, and I’m praying that he can play as a father as well as a coach.”
In four games this season, Shilo Sanders has 26 total tackle, 21 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and one touchdown, which he scored against Colorado State.
As a member of the Class of 2019, Shilo Sanders was a three-star recruit out of Cedar Hill (Texas) Trinity Christian School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 69 overall prospect in the state, the No. 57 safety in the class and the No. 584 overall prospect in the class.

Shilo Sanders’ status up in the air for USC
Regardless if Shilo Sanders can play or not, Deion and crew still have a game ahead of them. USC is no one to be trifled with considering the expectations around the Trojans.
USC is a popular pick to win the Pac-12 and get to the College Football Playoff. But for Deion, with or without Shilo, knows his team and staff have to respond to adversity after the first loss of the season.
“I want to see the coaches respond first,” Deion Sanders said. “That’s the thing. I know that leaders are handling a lot, but I want to see how the coaches respond first and the coaches, they have been responding they’ve taken it upon themselves as making the necessary changes. Scheming a little differently because you got to understand that there are four games of film on us right now to really predicate what we’re going to do and where we are.”
Deion said the scouting report was “tremendous” this week.
“That opened a lot of eyes, I think the theme of the scouting report, what was it, what was the Scripture,” Sanders said. “Yeah, it’s the truth that shall set you free. And we wanted to really give them the truth about some matters going on around here. So prayerfully they’d be free to do and they’re capable of doing a tremendous job.”
