Shilo Sanders injury update: Deion Sanders reveals latest on Colorado DB's availability vs. Kansas State
Colorado Buffaloes defensive back Shilo Sanders is set to return for the team’s next game against Kansas State. This comes after he missed three games following an arm injury that he suffered in the loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
It was head coach Deion Sanders who announced that Shilo is full-go in practice and shared that he’s wearing a rubber cast now.
Shilo Sanders initially suffered the injury against Nebraska and Deion Sanders had shared that it could be a fractured arm. The injury did end up requiring surgery.
Now in his second season with Colorado, Shilo Sanders transferred into the program ahead of 2023. He’s played in 13 total games since getting to Boulder, making 81 total tackles, including two tackles for a loss during that time. On top of that, he has an interception that he returned for a touchdown and three passes defended while at Colorado. In 2023, he also forced four fumbles.
Shortly after suffering the injury, Shilo Shanders shared what happened on the play and how he knew something wrong.

“After I made that tackle, I tried to lift my arm up. It feels like your hands going like this, like your arm goes up, but your hand has no control,” Sanders said. “It feels like it’s somebody else’s hand. It didn’t hurt that bad, it just felt like adrenaline.”
In total, Shilo Sanders missed three games, the most recent of which came against UCF. Since then, the Buffaloes had a bye week. There had been some talk that he may have been ready to come back for that UCF game, but as Deion Sanders previously explained, there was logic to playing it safe with Shilo’s recovery.
“Shilo is on pace to be back,” Deion Sanders said. “I’m not gonna count out this week. I’m not gonna count that out, but if he holds off this week that’ll give him two more weeks, which is pretty smart.”
In the end, Shilo got that extra two weeks to recover. So, he should be good to go against Kansas State. That’s a game that the defense is going to need him to perform and perform well during. The Wildcats have one of the best offenses, both running and passing, in the Big 12. So, being as healthy as possible is key to finding a way to win.
The game between Colorado and Kansas State is scheduled to kickoff at 10:15 p.m. EST on Saturday.
