Pete Thamel: Shilo Sanders 'doubtful' to play against USC
Colorado safety Shilo Sanders is doubtful to play against USC after not practicing this week, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
“Sources: Colorado star safety Shilo Sanders is doubtful against No. 8 USC, leaving an already undermanned secondary vulnerable against country’s No. 3 passing offense,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “Sanders did not practice this week and Rodrick Ward is slated to start.”
Head coach Deion Sanders said his son was going to be a game time decision earlier this week. However, after Shilo Sanders went to the hospital following the Oregon loss, that was put into doubt.
In four games this season, Shilo Sanders has 26 total tackle, 21 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and one touchdown, which he scored against Colorado State.
As a member of the Class of 2019, Shilo Sanders was a three-star recruit out of Cedar Hill (Texas) Trinity Christian School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 69 overall prospect in the state, the No. 57 safety in the class and the No. 584 overall prospect in the class.

Shilo Sanders doubtful to play vs. USC
Deion Sanders gave an update on Shilo earlier in the week.
“He’s doing better,” Sanders said of his son. “We went to the hospital right after we landed. He’s doing much better. We’re praying that he heals and he’s playing this weekend. He’s a valuable part of our secondary and our team defensively.
“(Shilo’s) one of the voices on the defense and he plays with a certain physicality that we desire and we want and he’s given me daily updates trust me, and I’m praying that he can play as a father as well as a coach.”
On the team’s personal vlog run by Deion Sanders Jr., Shilo said he experienced pain after making a tackle in the game against Oregon. He said he landed on his side awkwardly.
In the video, he claimed he was urinating blood.
“I can’t say I didn’t play hard,” Shilo Sanders said. “I’m peeing blood right now. I made a tackle and I landed on my kidney or something. I got to go to the ER to get checked.”
