Colorado’s Shilo Sanders just can’t comprehend why opposing coaching staffs keep throwing barbs at the Buffaloes and his dad, Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders.

Both TCU and Nebraska had members of their staff say things leading into their respective games against Colorado that the Sanders family took notice of, leading to some lopsided scores on the field that Saturday. Now, Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell joined the fray in a big way ahead of the Rams’ game against in-start rival Buffs this week.

Norvell took a clear shot at Deion Sanders’ wardrobe choice, particularly his style choice of wearing a hat and sunglasses during nationally-televised interviews.

“I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off,’” Norvell said on his weekly coach’s show. “And I said, ‘when I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.’”

Colorado certainly heard those statements loud in clear in Boulder. And when senior defensive back Shilo Sanders joined The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday afternoon, Norvell’s comments were the first item of discussion.

“Why do they do that?” Sanders asked with a laugh when the topic was brought up. “We were just talking about that. They just make it worse.”

Sanders was Face-Timing into the show from the Colorado facility and revealed that his dad had just discussed the remarks from Norvell.

“I don’t get why. We was actually just talking about that,” said Sanders. “Some of the receivers and my dad was over there, and I overheard them talking about that. And I was like, ‘What did he say?’ and they told me. I was like, ‘Bruh, why do they do this to themselves every week?'”

Clearly, Shilo doesn’t see the value in showing shade on his father or their program like that: “Coach Prime’s a cool guy. Like, you don’t have to be like that.”

Nonetheless, Jay Norvell woke up and chose violence this week. Perhaps he should have consulted Matt Rhule or the TCU staff on how that strategy worked out for their respective programs.

Thanks to their head coach, the Colorado State players could be in for a long Saturday night after gifting Deion Sanders the ultimate bulletin board material. As of now, Colorado is a 23.5-point favorite, and they’ll be looking to cover it after the fire that’s been sparked.
