Shilo Sanders pledges to respond after 'worst game of my life'
Colorado Buffaloes defensive back Shilo Sanders returned from an arm injury against Kansas State. However, he left the game frustrated with his performance and pledging to respond to his performance.
As Sanders explained while speaking to the media after practice, it was a disappointing performance to return from injury to, one which he referred to as the worst of his life. However, now he’s going to block out any outside noise and focus on improving.
“You work to get back, then you get back and you have the worst game of your life,” Shilo Sanders said. “Man, it’s really disappointing for me, especially the fans. So, and I’ve been seeing everybody turn on me and stuff like that. I’m not worried about none of that because as soon as you do good, they’re gonna be right back on your side just how they was when we won the UCF game out there in Florida. So, I’m not really worried about none of that.”
Shilo Sanders initially went down with his arm injury against Nebraska. That would require surgery and cost him several weeks of the season, including games against Colorado State, Baylor, and UCF. He returned to play against Kansas State, but still appeared to be shaking off some rust.
“I’m worried about me getting better. I’m worried about contributing to the team, helping us win, and my role,” Sanders said. “I can’t be going out there not on my game. I’m the free safety. If I mess up, everybody is gonna see it. So, I’ve gotta pay attention to detail and be on my game at all times.”

Sanders finished the game with six tackles and an assisted tackle. That was fourth on the defense in tackling, but he did not record a pass defended and was clearly unhappy with his performance overall.
Shilo is, of course, the son of head coach Deion Sanders. However, it doesn’t bother Shilo that there could be criticism of how he played coming from either his father or his coach because he ultimately knows he struggled in the game.
“We got on the phone before, like right after the game, actually,” Sanders said. “Like, I know I played horrible. He knows I played horrible. It wasn’t like anything bad. It’s just, played horrible. That’s what happened.”
Shilo Sanders and Colorado will have the chance to bounce back next week with a road test against Arizona and the Wildcats’ talented passing attack.
