After leaving the Colorado State game thanks to a late hit, star Colorado player Travis Hunter will now miss the next few weeks, according to Skip Bayless.

That’s right, the notorious sports talk host was first to break news of Hunter’s injury timeline after he left Saturday’s game early. Bayless reported Monday morning that Hunter suffered a lacerated liver and will miss several weeks with the injury.

You can watch Bayless right here on Undisputed breaking news of what he was told about the Hunter injury, or scroll further down to read his full comments on the matter:

“Not only was Travis Hunter interfered with — but after the play should have been over, Colorado State’s Henry Blackburn blasted Hunter, drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, so Colorado State was penalized 30 total yards.

“I’m told Travis Hunter sustained a laceration of his liver. Not considered terribly serious, should heal on its own, 3-4 weeks. But definitely will keep him out of Saturday’s game at Oregon and probably out of the following Saturday’s game against USC and Caleb Williams.

“A terrible blow for Colorado just on the football field. Travis Hunter tried to play with the injury — he just didn’t feel right, he was taken to the hospital where he was kept overnight.

So, it sounds like the two-way Buffalo star will indeed miss the Oregon and USC games for certain, and could likely be out another week or two even after that, which is right in line with what head coach Deion Sanders said about him after the Colorado State game.

“I think Coach Ray is going to the hospital to check him out,” Sanders said postgame. “First thing I heard is that he would be out for a few weeks. I heard that for sure.

“But we’re gonna do what we gotta do to take care of him. So I know Travis like a book. He probably is gonna want to be out for two weeks, but we got to make sure his health is more important than this game.”

Just a crushing blow for Colorado to lose its most versatile piece and one of the stars of the team just before two of their biggest Pac-12 matchups of the season.

Hunter finished the game with two catches for 21 yards and had one tackle.

Hunter was one of the biggest additions for Deion Sanders while he was the head coach at Jackson State. Originally committed to Florida State, he flipped his commitment to Coach Prime after coming in as the No. 2 overall recruit in the nation from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Hunter was a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star.

Last year as a freshman at JSU, Hunter totaled 19 tackles and two interceptions on defense while adding 18 receptions for 190 yards and four touchdowns on offense. When Sanders left for Colorado, Hunter entered the transfer portal and joined his coach in Boulder.
