All eyes are on Deion Sanders and Colorado, as the Buffaloes take the college football world by storm. The rise of the soon-to-be Big 12 program has caught the attention of many elite prospects.

With momentum in-hand, Sanders and his staff could strike while the iron is hot on the recruiting trail. They’ll have another chance to do that on Saturday when hosting Colorado State. Chattanooga (Tenn.) Bradley Central four-star athlete and Tennessee commit Boo Carter will be in Boulder on a visit, according to an Instagram post from Carter’s mother. The trip, which will be unofficial, was confirmed by Volquest’s Matt Ray.

Carter is the No. 208 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 athlete and No. 2 player in Tennessee.

Carter has already taken two trips to Colorado: on Jan. 28 and April 22. He committed to the Volunteers on June 17 and has since been back on Rocky Top for a game visit on Sept. 9.

Colorado taking next step in recruiting

The Buffaloes carried plenty of hype into the beginning of the season, but things erupted once they defeated TCU in Fort Worth to open the 2023 campaign. Now, after a victory over Nebraska, the sky might not even be the limit for what Colorado is capable of.

Colorado’s 2024 class currently consists of just eight commits and is No. 60 in the nation. Calabasas (Calif.) four-star athlete Aaron Butler is the highest-ranked pledge, checking in as the No. 101 player in the cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

“We already know he and his staff can recruit at a very high level, we are now talking about Colorado recruiting at a major national level, because the proof is now in the pudding on the field,” On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman said. “If you’re a quarterback or a skill position player, you’ve got to be looking at Colorado in a completely different light as the season continues.”

Statesboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Kam Mikell became one of the first high-profile prospects to take notice this season, as he canceled a scheduled trip to Kentucky last weekend to instead attend Colorado’s win over the Cornhuskers. The trip made an impression on the blue-chipper.

“Man I loved it,” he told On3. “The fans were telling me that last year it was barely any people at the game and now the stadium was packed out. They were very happy about Colorado’s new winning era. It made me happy to see that. They have really changed the program around.”
