Colorado is Everyone's Super Bowl?

On Day 2 of the “EA Sports College Football 25” Showcase, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter went head-to-head in the highly-anticipated game. Naturally, both of them played with the Colorado Buffaloes in their matchup.

At one point, Hunter was on offense and dropped back only to be sacked by Sanders’ team. Already down 36-7 in the game, Hunter had an outburst.

“‘The O-line is realistic,'” Hunter said, reading the stream’s chat. “Yes, very realistic.”

“What [do] you mean?” Sanders asked.

“They can’t block for nothing,” Hunter said.

Last season, Colorado’s offensive line allowed 56 sacks, the second-most in the country. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders suffered the consequences. In Colorado’s Week 12 loss against Washington State, Sanders fractured his back.

Colorado attacked the transfer portal offseason to avoid history repeating itself in 2024. The program reeled in the No. 2 class in the transfer portal, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings. The group is headlined by former Houston guard Tyler Johnson.

The 6-foot-5, 325-pound lineman began his collegiate career at Texas, but spent the last two years with the Cougars. He played over 700 snaps in 11 games at Houston this year. Johnson is far from the only talented lineman Colorado added.

The team also folded in IOL Justin Mayers, who played in 35 career games through five seasons at UTEP, starting every game of the last two seasons at left guard. Despite Colorado’s fresh faces up front, Travis Hunter seemingly still isn’t convinced the offensive line is prepared.

Shedeur Sanders reveals attitude inside Colorado locker room

Hunter’s comments are a stark contrast from Sanders’ only days earlier. During an appearance at Big 12 Media Days, the Colorado quarterback raved about the attitude inside the Buffaloes’ locker room.

“I would describe it as being fun,” Sanders said. “Everybody’s out there to have great energy, and practice is definitely very competitive, and there’s no — it’s no hate, it’s no jealousy, it’s no none of that in the locker room.

“We’re missing practice today and everybody, you know, knows we’re here to represent the team. So it’s just fun. It’s fun. It’s just a loving environment, and it’s no jealousy, no envy.”

Hopefully for Colorado, Hunter’s comments don’t disturb the excellent environment in the team locker room. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see their Buffaloes take the field. On Aug. 29, Colorado will square off against North Dakota State in its season-opener.
