The name Henry Blackburn instantly became well-known across college football. During Colorado‘s win against Colorado State, Blackburn put a punishing hit on Buffaloes star Travis Hunter, causing him to endure a long-term injury. Some people were not too happy with Blackburn, feeling like the hit was late and worst of all, intentional.

While there still might be some anger from the outside, Blackburn and Hunter are on good terms. The two met up for a video on Hunter’s YouTube channel, talking about the moment. Everything they spoke about came in a positive light.

“For the people that love to see negativity, this ain’t a negative video,” Hunter said. “It’s positive. It’s nothing but positive this way.”

From Hunter’s perspective, he is not mad at Blackburn for the hit. He understands at some point, everybody is going to get hurt while playing football. The positive from the Colorado star’s perspective is because of the moment, he and Blackburn are now able to form a relationship.

“I feel like if that didn’t happen, we wouldn’t be here right now,” Hunter said. “So, it’s a blessing that that happened. Now, we can show people the other side of football. Football is just a game at the end of the day. We’re the people that play it. We’re going to get hurt eventually.”

A beef between Blackburn and Hunter could have quickly formed. But Blackburn thinks due to the maturity of Hunter, it’s allowed them to move past it all.

“You know I never meant to hurt you,” Blackburn said. “I appreciate how you handled it too. A lot of people would be like ‘**** that kid’ and have hatred. You just handled it in a mature way.”

Henry Blackburn discusses death threats following hit on Travis Hunter

Unfortunately, there were death threats sent the way of Blackburn. Not that it’s an excuse but Colorado fans were upset about Hunter being removed from the game and missing games in the future. Blackburn was in a tough situation and received nasty comments on social media.

The Colorado State defensive back was never too worried though, especially once Hunter told everyone to relax. Blackburn was more concerned about his family and his two younger sisters, being natives of Boulder.

“I can take it,” Blackburn said. “I’m not worried about me. I’m not tripping about me. I got two little sisters in elementary school. That’s mainly what I was worried about, their safety. I appreciate you coming out and saying ‘It’s football.’ Because that helped calm things down.”

Hopefully, seeing the two get together and discuss the moment will put any negative discussions surrounding it to bed. Blackburn is going to carry on with Colorado State, looking to have a good season in the Mountain West.

Hunter is still dealing with his injury, likely missing Saturday’s game against USC. He will be back in the lineup eventually, showcasing the type of talent he has on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
