Colorado head coach Deion Sanders provided a positive update on two-way star Travis Hunter after his admittance to the hospital.

According to Sanders, Hunter is out of the hospital and in good spirits. But as far as his recovery time, it was unclear other than the reported three weeks time.

He won’t be out there against Oregon, but Hunter is doing well per Sanders.

“Deion Sanders on Travis Hunter: ‘Travis is doing great. Got out of the hospital yesterday, he’s at home. … He can’t wait to get back.’ CU will go with a ‘corner by committee’ approach to replace Hunter at Oregon. Says Cormani McClain is not ready,” ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg wrote on Twitter.

Hunter ran a go route down the left sideline in the first half of the 43-35 double OT win over Colorado State, but had no chance to make a catch on a pass from Shedeur Sanders thanks to a pass interference penalty on the defender. Right as the ball came down in front of Hunter, however, Henry Blackburn came across and delivered a crushing blow.

After a brief scuffle, Hunter remained on the sideline. Colorado scored quickly to tie the game at 14 with Sanders connecting on a long touchdown pass, and Hunter re-entered the game late in the first quarter on a defensive series for Colorado, playing cornerback.

Hunter finished the game with two catches for 21 yards and had one tackle.

With no two-way superstar for the Oregon game, Colorado is up against it a bit. However, Ducks head coach Dan Lanning said he hated that Hunter would have to miss the game this weekend.

“He’s a special player,” Lanning said. “I absolutely hate that for Travis. He’s a dynamic kid, got a special personality, and obviously he’s tremendous on the football field and he certainly gave them an edge.

“So, I hope he gets healthy soon. I hate to not get to see him play in this game because he’s meant for a stage like this, the stage that we’re gonna have this Saturday.”

Hunter was one of the biggest additions for Deion Sanders while he was the head coach at Jackson State. Originally committed to Florida State, he flipped his commitment to Coach Prime after coming in as the No. 2 overall recruit in the nation from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Hunter was a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star.
