Whatever the expectations were in game one of the Deion Sanders era, the Buffaloes blew them out of the water.

On Saturday, as 20-point underdogs on the road, Colorado waltzed onto the TCU campus and set school records all over the place on offense en route to their first win under Sanders. His son, Shedeur Sanders, threw for a school-record 510 yards in an incredible performance.

Of course, he had to have guys to throw to, and boy did his weapons deliver. Specifically, Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn were two of Sanders’ favorite targets and he also helped them make some Colorado history.

Both Hunter and Horn caught 11 passes on the day — Horn for 117 yards and a touchdown, Hunter for 119 yards — something that’s only happened 20 times ever for a player in the CU football program. And it’s never happened in the same game, according to Colorado beat reporter Brian Howell.

He tweeted the following info on the new broken records just after the game:

“Yesterday, Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr. both caught 11 passes. In its history, CU’s now had just 20 11-catch games. This was the first time that two different players did it in the same game.”

What’s crazier is neither player led the team in receiving yards. It was Dylan Edwards, a 5’9 freshman running back, who caught five passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns, whilst adding another on the ground to give him four.

After the game, Deion Sanders raved about Edwards and his approach towards the game.

“Dylan Edwards is phenomenal. I’ve been saying that since he was four years old,” asserted Sanders. “We’ve seen that all the time in practice. Don’t let the size fool you. When he looks in the mirror, he sees a 215-pound man that’s probably about 6-4. That’s the way Dylan addresses life.”

Just like Edwards, Colorado’s other stars — Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, Jimmy Horn , etc. — have all been putting in the work in practice, according to Deion. Now, fans are just seeing what Coach Sanders saw for the last few months in fall camp.

“Dylan is a dog, man. But you’re gonna consistently see what he does on a weekly basis because this is how he practices. This is how Travis practices. This is how Shedeur practices,” said Sanders. “This is how — those receivers I’ve been talking about that you didn’t believe — this is how they really go to work.”

They sure went to work on Saturday, as the QB Sanders totaled half-a-thousand yards and had four receiving targets surpass 100 yards: Hunter, Horn, Edwards and then Xavier Weaver.
