Colorado is dealing with a couple of major injuries against Kansas State, with the biggest being two-way star Travis Hunter. He left the game in the second quarter with a shoulder injury, heading to the locker room multiple times. To close out the half, the Buffaloes were without their best player.

As they emerge from the locker room, the same remains true. ESPN’s Quint Kessenich got the latest as the third quarter begins, with Hunter’s official designation being questionable.

“He was injured in the second quarter,” Kessenich said. “The receiver/cornerback caught a ball and was tackled solidly by a Kansas State player. He looked uncomfortable, basically tapped out. He went into the locker room, came out, went into the locker room, and stayed there.

“He has not returned to the field of play since halftime. He played 23 offensive snaps, 21 defensive snaps but he missed the last 13 snaps of the second quarter. He’s in the locker room, officials tell me he is questionable. So no Travis Hunter right now.”

Hunter has caught three passes for 26 yards. He was on track to continue the great offensive performances put on in recent weeks while also shining on the defensive end. As Kessenich mentioned, the splits between offensive and defensive snaps were about even.

A few minutes later, the ESPN broadcast showed Hunter back on the sideline. However, he did not seem as if a return to the field was imminent as no helmet was in his hand. If there is any good news, Hunter was still in his pads and was walking around.

Kessenich had another update but also had negative news for Colorado regarding another wide receiver. They will be without Jimmy Horn the rest of the way, with his exact injury not known at the time of posting.

“During that timeout, Travis Hunter down on the sideline,” Kessenich said. “He was looking at video of the hit that caused his shoulder injury with some of the medical personnel. Travis now walking on the sideline, he does not have a helmet in his hands.

“Other injury news for the Buffaloes, the hits keep coming — Jimmy Horn, I’ve been told, is very doubtful to return to this ball game. Add it up, that’s their two best receivers.”

Horn will end his night with just three receptions, similar to Hunter. However, just 20 yards are there for the fourth-year player. Questions about his long-term health will now be prevalent as Colorado continues its season.
