Travis Hunter recalls ability to attend College GameDay, speak with Nick Saban
Instead of relaxing during Colorado‘s bye this past weekend, Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter traveled to Happy Valley to appear on ESPN’s College GameDay. In addition to speaking with Nick Saban and the ESPN crew, Hunter also made his way over to the FOX Big Noon Kickoff set.
During an appearance on 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders, Hunter pulled back the curtain on his wild weekend.
“College GameDay was tough, bro,” Hunter said. “It was cool. It was nice. I think I can do TV now after doing that… It was definitely surreal. I was able to talk to people that I never thought I’d be able to talk to.”
Hunter couldn’t have asked for a larger platform to campaign for the 2024 Heisman Trophy. While Hunter flashed his infectious smile for the nationwide audience, a man behind him waved a flag that read Heisman in flashy white and gold text.
Of course, Hunter has more than charisma to support his claim for the most coveted individual award in college football. Hunter boasts 60 catches this season for 757 yards and eight touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, Hunter has been lockdown, tallying 20 tackles, seven passes defended and two interceptions. In Week 9, the Big 12 named Hunter its Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. He is the first player to ever win both awards in the same week.

Hunter’s effort to spread the word about his fantastic season thus far seemingly paid off. As of this report, the former five-star prospect is tied with Miami quarterback Cam Ward for the best odds to win the Heisman Trophy, according to FanDuel.
Hunter believes he would’ve received the widespread recognition earlier in the season if people didn’t make assumptions about Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders.
“Just trying to put our names out there more,” Hunter said. “People don’t know. They hate on Coach Prime, so I just had to go out there and show them. Had to let them know, man. We can come on there and talk our stuff if we need to but I’m a very laid back and humble dude.”
On Saturday, Travis Hunter will look to add to his Heisman campaign as the Buffaloes square off against Texas Tech at 4 p.m. ET. The game will air live on FOX.
