Two of the best players in the country may play on the same team, but Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are more than happy to share the spotlight.

The two playmakers were stars of the show in the Buffaloes’ Week 1 win over TCU. Travis Hunter recorded 119 receiving yards and had a spectacular touchdown grab that was narrowly ruled out of bounds. Plus, he logged roughly 150 total snaps playing both wideout and cornerback, also recording a ridiculously impressive goal-line interception vs. the Horned Frogs last week.

Meanwhile, Sanders proved he didn’t earn the QB1 job just because of his last name. In just one start, he broke the single-game passing yards record for Colorado with more than 500 plus four touchdowns.

Obviously, these are two great players. And ahead of their second game of the year vs. Nebraska, the two CU stars sat down with FOX Sports for a brief interview. As part of that, Hunter and Sanders were each asked to give a Heisman endorsement to the other guy, since they’ve both vaulted into the conversation after their performances last week.

First, Sanders was asked about Hunter’s chances to take home the nation’s most prestigious individual award.

“I mean, why wouldn’t he?” Sanders said with a smile. “That’s Travis Hunter. That’s the best player in the country. You know that.”

On the flip side, Hunter was then asked why Sanders’ name should be at the top of the Heisman discussion. He says the numbers speak for themselves.

“He just threw for 500 yards in his first game. And they say he a daddy’s boy. He’s a daddy’s boy and he put four receivers over 100 yards. There’s nothing more you can do.”

Simple but powerful statements from Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders on each other. The two stars will look to add to their rising national profiles in this week’s bout vs. Nebraska.

Deion Sanders raves about Hunter after first game

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders joined Undisputed on Monday and shared what makes Hunter such a great player. According to Sanders, it’s not just his skillset, it’s also his mindset.

“This guy is different. … He’s a dawg. Like he is cut different,” Sanders said. “That’s why there’s a ‘D’ on his shirt. I don’t have no captains. I don’t believe in no captains. I believe in leaders and dawgs. Every dawg ain’t a leader and every leader ain’t a dawg. But he’s both.”

Deion Sanders had no doubt that Travis Hunter would play well on Saturday. The former five-star recruit was up early that morning and couldn’t wait to get on the field and show what he can do.

“Travis Hunter texted me. I think it was 6 o’clock in the morning – ‘Let’s go. Let’s go do this baby.’ That’s the text I get from Travis Hunter first thing in the morning on Saturday morning – ‘Let’s go do this baby.’ So this kid is born like that,” Sanders said.
