5-star DL Williams Nwaneri set for first visit to Colorado
Colorado is set to host its spring game on Saturday in what is anticipated to be one of the biggest events of the spring. With Deion Sanders now leading the Buffaloes, several top prospects are expected to be in Boulder for the occasion.
One of those top prospects is Lee’s Summit (Mo.) Lee’s Summit North five-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri who will be making his first visit to Colorado.
“I just want to see what it is like under Coach (Deion) Sanders,” Nwaneri told On3. “I don’t really know what to expect. Based on what I have been hearing, I expect there to be a lot of energy in the stadium and for it to be full of fans. I just want to see what it is like. I want to get a feel for how it is all the way around.”
Nwaneri noted that Colorado’s old coaching staff had been recruiting him but things really didn’t pick up until Sanders arrived in Boulder. The old staff didn’t offer Nwaneri during that time but once Sanders arrived, the Buffaloes coaching staff extended an offer and have been after him consistently.
Sanders’ bringing national attention back to Colorado is something that Nwaneri noted as a positive for the Buffaloes. The relationships he’s built with the coaching staff stands out too.

“Coach Nick Williams is really cool and the coach on that staff who I talk to the most,” said Williams, the No. 6 player in the country. “He’s a younger guy, so we can relate on stuff. We can talk about music and things outside of football which is nice.”
Saturday could prove to be crucial for Nwaneri as he figures out where else he’ll be taking an official visit to.
Nwaneri already has official visits sets for Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee. He wants to figure out if Colorado will be on that list after his first trip to Boulder.
This visit is big for me so I can see how I feel about Colorado afterwards,” Nwaneri said. “I’m not planning to take too many official visits, so this will be my chance to see how interested I am in Colorado.”
