UConn head coach Jim Mora is unhappy with other schools trying to take players from the Huskies roster and he plans to take action, he said on Twitter Monday morning.

Jim Mora issued a warning to programs and coaches that have “blatantly broken” NCAA rules. Here is the full warning from Mora:

“A simple note to the schools and coaches that have blatantly broken @NCAAFootball rules by tampering with our players in the last 24 hours. We do know who you are, we will pursue all avenues to hold you accountable,” Jim Mora posted.

“We are excited that we’ve built a program where coaches have to cheat to beat us and we will protect that program. Think hard before you tamper with our players. #justgettingstarted

Jim Mora is the latest coach to publicly complain about tampering in college football. Per NCAA rules, players are not supposed to be contacted about transferring to another school unless they are in the transfer portal.

Mora’s warning came a couple of days after UConn beat North Carolina in the Fenway Bowl to finish off the 2024 season. The Huskies finished 9-4 this year, reaching the nine-win mark for the first time since 2007.

Jim Mora, UConn agree to new contract through 2028 season, pay raise

It has been a busy few days for UConn head coach Jim Mora. In addition to winning the Fenway Bowl on Saturday and issuing a warning to other programs on Monday, Mora also received a raise and contract extension recently.

Mora’s new deal will see him coach UConn through the 2028 season and will feature a pay raise to $2.5 million annually through the length of the deal, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Mora’s offense has been a major contributor to their success this season. Boasting a three-headed backfield featuring Cam EdwardsDurell Robinson and Mel Brown, the trio have a combined 2,064 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns to their credit this season.

Taking over the program during the 2022 season, Mora’s impact was immediate. The Huskies finished 2021 at 1-11 overall, but in his first season at the helm, he led his program to a 6-7 record with an appearance in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. This season was dubbed the “Husky Revolution” as the program had not been to a bowl game since 2015.
