UConn star guard, Jordan Hawkins, was officially listed as a starter for their Final Four matchup with Miami on Saturday. Hawkins appeared to be a game-time decision coming into their game against the Hurricanes, having missed practice this week with a non-COVID illness.

The decision was made official before tipoff on Saturday, with Hawkins being designated as a starter and confirming that he was ready to play.

“Official: Jordan Hawkins is listed in the UConn starting lineup,” explained The Field of 68‘s Rob Dauster before the game.

The news was a huge relief to Huskies fans, as UConn sits just one game away from a shot at the national championship. Hawkins was out from practice on Friday with illness, throwing his status for their huge game in question.

Earlier on Saturday, a spokesman for the team indicated that his status for the game would depend on how he was feeling after another afternoon of rest. The confirmation appeared to come through as the team’s pregame media sheet listed Hawkins in the starting lineup.

The 6-foot-5 guard is UConn’s second-leading scorer this season, and a likely 2023 NBA Draft candidate. According to coach Dan Hurley on Friday, the team was confident that Hawkins would be ready by game time — although he wasn’t sure in what capacity. The Huskies had isolated Hawkins form the rest of the team at the team hotel, and gave him plenty of rest and medical care to get him ready for the Final Four.
