ACC announces content series to honor Duke's Mike Krzyzewski

Legendary Duke men’s basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski is set to enter retirement following the conclusion of this season. Krzyzewski is one of the best coaches in the history of college basketball, and his legacy is already cemented in the mind’s of all. With his retirement looming, the ACC announced on Friday that the conference will honor Krzyzewski and his long list of accomplishments with a four-part video series.

“The Atlantic Coast Conference, in collaboration with ACC Media Ventures, will debut a four-part online video series honoring five-time national champion head coach Mike Krzyzewski as he nears retirement after more than 40 years at Duke University,” the conference announced.

“The series is entitled LEGACY: COACH K and features 10 former Duke players as they reminisce on college basketball’s all-time winningest coach and his four decades as the Blue Devils’ leader.”

In the video series, there will be four segments, including appearances from former Duke staffers and players. Some of the players to be included are Jay Bilas, Johnny Dawkins, Grant Hill, JJ Reddick, Shane Battier, and future head coach Jon Scheyer will make an appearance on the final segment.

Here is the full schedule, with the list of representatives for each segments included:

Friday, March 4, 8 p.m. – The 1980s (Jay Bilas, Johnny Dawkins, and Alaa Abdelnaby)
Saturday, March 5, 8 p.m. – The 1990s (Grant Hill and Steve Wojciechowski)
Sunday, March 6, 8 p.m. – The 2000s (Shane Battier and JJ Redick)
Monday, March 7, 8 p.m. – The 2010s (Jon Scheyer and current assistant coach Nolan Smith)

There will be multiple avenues to watch the series. According to the ACC’s release, it will be available on Facebook, Samsung TV+, the ACC Digital Network Channel on Youtube, The Roku Channel, Plex, and Stirr.

Krzyzewski has a historic resume as Duke’s coach

Entering the season, Krzyzewski already entrenched his name in ACC record books, accomplishing a number of impressive feats while serving as Duke’s head coach.

Krzyzewski has been a head coach for 46 years, 41 of which have been at Duke. In his career (entering this season), he has compiled a 1,170-361 career record, including 1,097 wins at Duke. He has won five national championships, 12 Coach of the Year awards, and also has six gold medals as the coach of the United States Men’s National Team. Krzyzewski’s 1,170 career wins are the most in NCAA history, while his 1,097 at Duke are the most at one school in NCAA history.

Additionally, Krzyzewski has made 12 Final Fours, won 12 ACC regular season championships, and 15 ACC Tournament titles. His 97 NCAA Tournament wins are also the most in NCAA history, and his 517 ACC wins are the most in the conference’s history.
