Coach K makes NCAA Tournament history in his final appearance

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski has accomplished a near endless amount of milestones throughout his college basketball coaching career. On Sunday evening, with the official announcement of the 2022 NCAA Tournament Bracket, he crossed yet another impressive milestone. He officially has the most NCAA Tournament appearances for a head coach in college basketball history, 36. Coach K just recently made ACC history in making his 22nd ACC Championship Game appearance, the most in conference history. The Blue Devils were stunned by the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday night in Brooklyn, 82-67.

In the first round, the No. 2 seed Blue Devils will face off against the No. 15 seed Cal-State Fullerton Titans. If Duke advances to the Round of 32, a matchup with the winner of No. 7 seed Michigan State Spartans vs. No. 10 seed Davidson Wildcats.
A highly anticipated matchup that could happen in the Elite Eight for the Duke Blue Devils this year would be against the No. 1 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs. Gonzaga has been playing like one of the best teams in America for much of the 2021-2022 college basketball season and they didn’t get a one seed by accident. Ticket prices for that potential matchup would be sky high. There’s no question about that. The game would be a rematch of the Duke-Gonzaga game on Nov. 26. The Blue Devils won that game, 84-81 and it was one of the best college basketball games of the 2021-2022 season.
Coach K career accolades
Coach K has won five national championships at Duke, including two years where he won back-to-back national crowns.
In winning back-to-back NCAA titles in 1991 and 1992, Krzyzewski became only the second coach to do so since John Wooden (Billy Donovan is the other).
