A look at how Duke's 2024 class could play out
Duke is coming off a 2022 class that had them ranked No. 1 in the On3 Team Rankings and a 2023 class that is currently ranked No. 2.
On the recruiting trail, the Jon Scheyer era of Duke basketball is off to a hot start. Coming off a visit to the Final Four in Coach K’s final season, on the court, the Blue Devils are off to an 11-3 start, good for No. 16 in the current AP Top 25.
Duke’s 2023 class features four five-star players in Jared McCain, Caleb Foster, Sean Stewart, and Mackenzie Mgbako. As well as four-star, No. 23 ranked TJ Power.
Duke’s 2024 class has gotten off to a hot start, with four-star sharp-shooter Darren Harris already committed to the program. With the recruiting off to a hot start, I wanted to take an early look at how the 2024 class is shaping up.
First-year head coach Jon Scheyer has not cast a wide net in recruiting. He currently has less than ten offers out in the class. Let’s look through how the class could shape up.
Committed
Four-star SG Darren Harris
Height/Weight: 6-6/190
High school: Fairfax (VA) Paul VI
2024 On3 Consensus: No. 48
Darren Harris is widely considered one of the top shooters in the country, regardless of class. At the recent National Hoopfest, Harris averaged 20.5 points and made 3.5 threes per game. On a team that is currently shooting 32.6 percent from three, floor spacing will be welcomed.

2024 On3 Consensus: No. 5
Dylan Harper is the son of former NBA Champion Ron Harper. The 6-foot-5 guard is currently ranked No. 2 in the 2024 On3 150. The five-star averaged 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists while leading his NY Rens team to Nike’s 16u Peach Jam championship game. Harper has taken two official visits to this point, Duke in October and Indiana in November.
Four-star F Tyler Betsey
Height/Weight: 6-8/200
High school: Windsor (CT) St. Thomas More
2024 On3 Consensus: No. 59
Tyler Betsey was one of the most prolific shooters this summer. The 6-foot-8 forward was teammates with Dylan Harper with the NY Rens on Nike’s EYBL 16u Circuit. Betsey shot 45.2 percent from three during Nike’s Peach Jam, averaging 2.7 makes per game. The natural three and D prospect is the No. 19 player in the 2024 On3 150.
Five-star SG Bryson Tucker
Height/Weight: 6-7/195
High school: Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy
2024 On3 Consensus: No. 8
Bryson Tucker is a consensus five-star. His father was a 1,000-plus point collegiate scorer, starting off at NC State and finishing his career at George Mason. Tucker, who has not played travel ball, transferred to Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy. Amile Jefferson was courtside for Tucker at the recent Chick Fil A Classic, an event where Tucker averaged 11.0 points and 4.3 rebounds for the top ten ranked IMG team. Tucker has not taken or scheduled any official visits yet. The wing spoke of Michigan State, Duke, Auburn, Southern California, etc., during a recent one-on-one with On3.
