Duke 5-star commit Jared McCain wins McDonald's All-American Game 3-point contest

Duke five-star combo guard commit Jared McCain put on an electric performance during the McDonald’s All-American Game 3-point contest, winning the contest with 27 points.

“Right when I got started, I just felt nice,” McCain said on ESPNU after the contest. “Get the first misses out and then I felt good all the rest.”

McCain has been having himself a last few days. On3’s Jamie Shaw named him one of the best players of Sunday’s practice.

“Jared McCain has an exciting aesthetic to his game,” Shaw wrote. “At all times, he simply looks like he is having fun, and that draws the eye of most onlookers. McCain plays with aggressive confidence, and his shot-making was on full display during the scrimmage.”

McCain is the No. 15 overall recruit in the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking. The On3 Industry is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services. The On3 Industry Ranking is the most advanced, complete and unbiased rating and ranking measurement in the industry.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $1.2 million. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

That NIL Valuation ranks third among high school basketball players after Bronny James and Mikey Williams.

Jared McCain Scouting Summary

McCain is a confident and skilled scorer. His best scoring attribute is getting into the mid-range and knocking down an assortment of pull-ups and floaters. He is a good enough shooter from three and he can finish at the basket. McCain is a volume scorer and a shoot-first ball handler. He is a competitive defender and uses and strong and compact frame to be a disruption. McCain has won a lot, at every level.

Duke commit Sean Stewart wins slam dunk contest

Duke five-star forward commit Sean Stewart outlasted the other competitors at the McDonald’s All-American Game dunk contest to claim the top prize.

One of Stewart’s dunks was him jumping over his future teammate Mackenzie Mgbako.

On3 five-star guard Bronny James finished in second place. The finalists were Matas Buzelis and Elmarko Jackson. The other competitors were Ron Holland, Omaha Biliew, Mookie Cook, Jeremy Fears and Stephon Castle.
