J.J. Reddick gives reaction to Coach K's final game, the loss to North Carolina
One of the most anticipated college basketball games of all time delivered on Saturday night, with the North Carolina Tar Heels defeating the Duke Blue Devils in the Final Four. Being the final game of legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski, tons of reaction and emotion came out from people involved with the program, including former player J.J. Reddick.
After Duke dropped Coach K’s final home game at Cameron Indoor, Reddick sent out a quick message via Twitter, saying “Always proud of Duke. Always.” He decided to quote tweet that, brining the same sentiment on Saturday. Reddick even complimented a few North Carolina players, saying there was nothing but respect for how they played.
“Bumping this. Also- great game and win from UNC,” Reddick said. “Those guys won arguably the two biggest games in the history of the rivalry. Nothing but credit and respect to them. Love, Davis, Manek, and Bacot are really really good.”
For a rivalry matchup that always lives up to the hype, Duke and North Carolina were no different in New Orleans. Going back and forth with each other all night, the Tar Heels ended up on the winning side and will play the Kansas Jayhawks for the national championship on Monday.
Even with the loss, Reddick shared how proud he is of what the Blue Devils were able to accomplish this season. A Final Four appearance to end the career of Krzyzewski is the perfect sending off.

Coach K reveals emotions following Final Four loss
Following the season-ending loss to North Carolina and his last-ever game as Duke’s head coach, Krzyzewski met with the media for his final postgame press conference and was asked what his emotions were as he walked off the court for the last time. Instead of going into detail about himself, Coach K decided to talk highly of his players – saying that they’re the ones who are hurting right now.
“It’s not about me – especially right now,” Krzyzewski said. “As a coach, I’m just concerned about these guys. I mean, they’re already crying on the court. … And I mean that’s the only thing you can think about. And then going into the locker room, I’ve said my entire career – or when I knew what the hell I was doing – that I wanted my seasons to end where my team was either crying tears of joy or tears of sorrow because then you knew that they gave everything.
“And I had a locker room filled with guys who were crying – and it’s a beautiful sight. It’s not the sight that I would want; I’d want the other. But it’s a sight that I really respect and makes me understand just how good this group was. And that’s what I’m concerned – I don’t want any of these guys to leave and say, I should have made that one free throw, I should have made that one. … We win and we lose together, and we’ve won 32 games and two championships together. And that’s what I want them to realize.”
