The 3-point shooting prowess of Duke commit Jared McCain has been on full display at the McDonald’s All-American Games. The five-star recruit won the 3-point contest on Monday evening and has continued to impress Tuesday in the official game.

McCain opened by making a shot from deep to start the contest for the West, which led the East 60-51 at halftime. Speaking with ESPN during the first half, McCain explained that outside shooting has always come naturally for him thanks to help from his family.

“Just reps with my father when I was super young (and) playing with my brother,” he said. That’s where it comes from.”

It’s not just his basketball ability that fans have gotten to know the past few days, however. McCain has also showed off his personality, teaming up with Bronny James to make a Tik Tok before the game.

James and McCain are two of the most popular 2023 recruits on the social media platform, with a combined following of more than seven million people. James has the highest NIL valuation of any player in the 2023 class at $7.2 million according to On3, while McCain ranks third with a valuation of $1.2 million.

“It was cool,” McCain said of teaming up with James for the video. “I showed him the Tik Tok and he said he knew it, so we just had to lock in.”

McCain is the No. 15 overall recruit in the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services. The On3 Industry Ranking is the most advanced, complete and unbiased rating and ranking measurement in the industry. McCain chose to play for the Blue Devils over offers from Houston, Gonzaga, Louisville and many others.

McCain has certainly proven himself among the best of the best the past few days, earning high praise from On3 recruiting expert Jamie Shaw for his start Tuesday night.

“Duke signee Jared McCain has started the game aggressively,” Shaw wrote. “A noted competitor, he started off the scoring with a three-pointer and finished a nice up and under off a paint touch, showing good balance and touch. Strong, compact frame.”

It’s safe to say the McDonald’s All-American Games have given Jared McCain an experience he’ll never forget, and he’ll carry that with him into next season at Duke.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “I get to be myself out there on the court and just have fun with what I do and how I play.”
