We’re closing in on the end of an era for the Duke Blue Devils, as the final season for legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski just has a few games remaining. His final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium will be against in-state arch-rival, the North Carolina Tar Heels, on March 5 before the team fully focuses on the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

To set the stage for the final home game for Krzyzewski, ESPN college basketball analyst and former Duke player Jay Bilas went on The Rich Eisen Show. He discussed how much support there will be for the head coach in attendance, plus the ridiculous ticket prices out on the market.

“He just had his second to last home game against Florida State and the last home game he will ever coach on the floor at Cameron Indoor Stadium will be against North Carolina on Saturday, March 5,” Bilas said. “I’ll be there. There will probably be about 100 former players, who knows how many dignitaries of the like but I think it will be intensely emotional and he will do his best to manage it, try to keep it away from the players but it will be inescapable. Some of the tickets are going for $20,000 and I started thinking, I got a seat in the booth but for $20,000, I might want to give that thing up and watch on TV. It will be an unbelievable happening.”

Bilas went on to discuss how Krzyzewski is going to handle the emotion of playing his final game at Cameron Indoor. Overall, the former player is looking forward to the occasion and catching up with a few teammates after the game for some celebratory beverages.

“He won’t be able to escape the emotion but I know, from knowing him for so long, I know he will manage it the best it can be managed,” Blas said. “It will be a lot of fun to watch and to reminisce and all of that. I’m going to be there early and probably going to stay late because there will be so many former players there. I will probably tip a few back with them once the game is over.”

Mike Krzyzewski was able to get a win during his final trip to the Dean E. Smith Center back on Feb. 5. While it will be emotional saying goodbye to the place he called home for over 40 years, Krzyzewski will want to get one final win over the Tar Heels before heading into retirement.
