LOOK: Former Duke star Tre Jones proposes on campus of alma mater
There’s no place quite like home. Over the weekend, former Duke Blue Devils star Tre Jones returned to his alma mater to pop the question to his girlfriend Maddy Torres. The pair both attended Duke and they have a daughter together as well.
Tre Jones starred for the Blue Devils from 2018-2020. He went No. 41 overall in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft to the San Antonio Spurs. He started 11 games for the Spurs this season out of 69 games played, averaging 16.6 minutes per game. He scored 6 points per game while adding 2.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
Jones left Duke with a short but very sweet resume that includes ACC Player of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year and second-team All-American. He started all 29 games he played in at Duke, averaging 16.2 points, 6.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 2019-2020.
Former Duke star Carlos Boozer officially graduates
Another former Duke standout was on campus this weekend to celebrate a big milestone.
Plenty of athletes take some time after they finish their basketball careers to go back and wrap up their degrees. For Carlos Boozer, it took a little bit longer. Two decades after he wrapped up his prolific career, the star power forward finally graduated.

As a high school prospect, Carlos Boozer was one of the best players in America and he was named a McDonald’s All-American in 1999.
In college, he suited up for the Duke Blue Devils and helped his team accomplish remarkable things. Boozer guided his team to a 2001 National Championship and in the 2002 season, he racked up a number of individual accolades. He earned first-team All-ACC honors and third team All-American honors.
In the NBA, Boozer went on to have a very good professional career. At the peak of his time in the NBA, the former Duke star was averaging a double-double. The 2007 season with the Utah Jazz, Boozer averaged 21.1 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. The Alaskan native averaged a double-double for four years during his time in the NBA. Boozer also got to suit up for the 2008 Team USA Olympic basketball team — when they won the gold medal over Spain in a hotly contested battle, 118-107.
