Duke’s Cooper Flagg had his latest great performance in their win to advance into the Elite Eight. It was a game that made Jay Williams put him atop the sport right now and in all-time status in Durham.

Williams discussed Flagg’s outing in the 100-93 win over Arizona in the Sweet 16 on ‘Get Up’ on Friday. With it, he made the statements that he’s “the best college basketball player in the game today” and is “the most complete freshman” ever at Duke.

Bro, I think he’s the most complete freshman that Duke has had in basketball history. I, I do. I think he is, by far, the best college basketball player in the game today, by far, because he does it on both sides of the ball,” said Williams. “Defensively, he’s everywhere. Offensively, he’s a playmaker…Because of how he plays, he’s just a complete, all-around spectacular player. Duke is a great team but, obviously, this dude is just, he’s built differently than a lot of people I’ve seen.”

Seth Greenberg agreed about the all-around game for Flagg. He does it all at his age and makes everything about his team’s play all the better for it.

“The dude is 18 years old! He’s 18 years old,” Greenberg exclaimed. “His feel for the game? He makes the game easier for everybody else. His vision as a passer, as a point guard…His ability to make the game easier for everyone else…His feel for the game? He can score it. He can make plays for others. He can rebound the ball. His ability to impact the game defensively with his length. His ability to make the game easier for everyone else. The dude impacts the game every single time down the floor.”

Flagg finished the win over the Wildcats with 30 points (47.4% FG, 60% 3PT), seven assists, six rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. Through three wins in March Madness, Flagg is now averaging 20.7 points (47.6% FG, 41.7% 3PT), 7.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks.

Flagg is the best freshman in the country and arguably the best player in all of college basketball. That’s starting to put him in all-time company with the Blue Devils, especially if he keeps this up in the NCAA Tournament.
