LOOK: NBA legend tours Duke ahead of final Coach K game
As Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski prepares to coach his final game inside of Duke’s home arena, one NBA legend took in the sights on campus. Legendary NBA power forward Dirk Nowitzki was seen touring the Duke Basketball Museum adjacent to Cameron Indoor Stadium, taking in the school’s history while awaiting the final home game of Krzyzewski’s career.
NBA legend in attendance for Coach K’s final home game at Duke
While plenty of Duke basketball legends are planning on being in attendance for Krzyzewski’s final home game, there will be other superstars in the gym if Nowitzki’s appearance is any indication. The future NBA Hall-of-Famer made the trip to Durham and stopped by the Duke Basketball Museum beforehand, as seen in the above photo.
Although Nowitzki did not play college basketball before beginning his NBA career, Krzyzewski’s incredible career and time with the US Men’s Olympic Basketball team has made him an irreplaceable part of the sport’s history. The German-born Nowitzki played 21 years in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, winning a championship and being named one of the NBA’s 75-best players.

As over 80 former Duke players are expected to show up on Saturday, tickets for fans could be seen on third-party selling sites for over $10 thousand each. Cameron Indoor Stadium is as much a part of the Duke experience as Krzyzewski has been, and the arena has sold out tickets for the 490th consecutive game — a streak that reaches as far back as 1990.
Ultimately, Krzyzewski will finish his incredible career with the edge over North Carolina regardless of the result of Saturday’s game. His career record against the Tar Heels is 50-46, and this will be his 97th game coaching Duke against their rival. With Duke legends and so many superstar faces in the crowd this time, the Cameron Crazies will be doing everything they can to cheer them on to one final victory for their coach.
