Maalik Murphy flips double birds at VT fans following TD pass
The Duke Blue Devils got off to a scorching hot start against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday night. It was all Blue Devils early. Quarterback Maalik Murphy connected on an 86-yard touchdown strike to Eli Pancol to open up the game. And Murphy was fired up about it. He decided to flash the double birds to the crowd in Durham.
Here is the video of the 86-yard touchdown toss.
Duke jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, but Virginia Tech answered late in the first quarter to make the score 14-7 with 4:28 left. There were three plays in the first quarter of 60 yards or more, according to the ACC Network broadcast.
Murphy has looked good at times this year, but has also shown the need for improvement in certain areas at times as well. He spins a beautiful spiral but has had trouble with his accuracy for much of the year. Coming into Saturday night’s game, he had completed 59.9% of his passes for 2,366 passing yards, while tossing in 22 touchdowns with eight interceptions.
While Murphy did throw a couple of touchdown passes, he also tossed three interceptions in the first half against Virginia Tech. The Hokies and Blue Devils both combined for over 700 yards of offense on Saturday night.
