Report: Duke star outfielder Devin Obee plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers reports Sunday that Duke outfielder Devin Obee plans to enter the transfer portal after graduating soon.
Obee will enter the transfer portal following a breakout season for the Blue Devils in his third year with the program. Starting in all 60 games at center field where he posted a .309 batting average with 67 hits, 57 runs, 50 RBIs, 11 doubles, two triples, and 16 home runs (one inside the park).
He also helped lead Duke to an ACC Tournament title and was named the ACC Tournament MVP after racking up seven hits, eight RBIs, and three homers in the Blue Devils’ four-straight wins. Also named a National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American earlier this month for his athletic accomplishments and his dedication to strength and condition.

“Obee is one of the best athletes at Duke in any sport,” Duke Director of Sports Performance Dan Perlmutter said. “He has elite speed, power, strength and athleticism, and has worked incredibly hard to develop and harness these assets to become a dominating power hitter and center fielder. Devin makes highlight plays on the field seem effortless and moves super heavy loads in the weight room at eye-popping speeds. He brings a quiet and powerful combination of humility and energy to his training.”
He was a team captain for Duke and will enter the transfer portal with one season of eligibility remaining. Improving every season year after year at Duke with a .204 batting average in his 37 game appearances as a freshman followed by a .232 average in 50 games as a sophomore before his standout junior year.

Obee played high school baseball at Ensworth High School in Nashville, Tennessee where he was ranked the No. 7 player in the state, the 225 overall player in the country, and a top 50 outfielder in the nation for the 2022 recruiting class according to Perfect Game.
“His teammates see this all the time and draw on that inspiration to make themselves better through their own work. Simply put people want to be Devin Obee,” Perlmutter added. “As a team captain, Devin understands that what he does and how he does it carries significant weight in the eyes of players and coaches alike. He’s used that leadership role to help create a group of tough, resilient baseball players that care deeply about each other, and strive to work and play as hard as he does every day.”
