Tyrese Proctor participating in warmups ahead of Miami game despite recent concussion
The Duke Blue Devils got a boost of good news on Wednesday night ahead of their matchup against the Miami Hurricanes. Sophomore point guard Tyrese Proctor, who suffered a concussion in their game against Wake Forest, was seen participating in warm-ups with the team ahead of their contest with the Hurricanes. That’s according to the Duke Basketball Twitter account.
Proctor has averaged 10.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game for the Blue Devils this year. He’s had two games where he’s poured in over 20 points, Louisville (24 points) and La Salle (22 points). Proctor drilled four of ten threes against Louisville, while also dishing out four assists. He didn’t score any points against Wake Forest, but he grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists. Proctor also had to miss the Florida State game (on February 17th).
Tyrese Proctor attended NBA Global Academy
Like most of the Duke roster, Proctor was a highly rated prospect coming out of high school. He attended the NBA Global Academy and was rated a four-star recruit and the No. 47 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2022 cycle.
Duke head coach Jon Scheyer had prodded star Kyle Filipowski to pick up his play in recent weeks and he has done just that. Filipowski poured in 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Wake Forest. He also had 22 points and five rebounds against North Carolina.
The Miami Hurricanes received some unfortunate injury news on Wednesday night ahead of the game. According to Jon Rothstein, The Hurricanes will be without the services of star guard Nijel Pack in a game with potentially major tournament implications.

“Miami’s Nijel Pack (lower body) is OUT for tonight’s game against Duke, per Jim Larranaga. [He] has not played since 2/14… Averages 13.7 PPG,” said Rothstein via X.
Pack has missed the last two games for Miami. And in both contests against Clemson and Boston College, the Hurricanes suffered back-to-back losses. Currently, Miami is on a four-game losing streak and is 1-4 since entering the month of February.
The status of forward Matthew Cleveland is also in question for Wednesday night’s game against Duke after he did not practice or participate in team shoot around the last two days. Currently, his status for the contest is listed as questionable with an illness, according to Larranaga.
