“This isn’t part of the program, this is impromptu,” began Krzyzewski. As fans began to interrupt him, he shut them down to finish his point. “I’m sorry about this afternoon. Today was unacceptable, but the season has been very acceptable. And I’ll tell you, the season isn’t over.”
Although Duke lost 94-81 to their rivals, the Blue Devils season has been phenomenal as Krzyzewski stated. Saturday’s loss was only the fifth loss Duke suffered the entire season, and they finished the year with the best record in the ACC. As the postseason begins, Duke now turns its eyes towards the ACC tournament and a national championship run. By taking the time out of his own ceremony to address his team and the Duke fans, his players likely will never forget what Coach K apologized for.
