WATCH: David Collins ejected following brutal hit on Wendell Moore dunk
The Duke and Clemson game got heated on Thursday night. Clemson’s David Collins was ejected from the game a few minutes ago after undercutting Duke’s Wendell Moore, Jr. in mid-air. Moore had a fast break for a dunk but Collins was chasing him at full speed and whipped Moore’s legs as he was dunking the ball. Moore crashed to the ground and it was a brutal looking fall.
Watch it below.
That’s undoubtedly going to be one of the dirtiest hits of the college basketball season. Thankfully, Wendell Moore, Jr. was ok after the play. It should be noted that Collins and Clemson head coach Brad Brownell apologized to Coach Krzyzewski and Moore before he was ejected.
It will be interesting to see how many games Collins is suspended for the hit.
Moore has averaged 14.0 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, and 4.4 assists per game for the Blue Devils this season. In the 2019 recruiting cycle, he was rated as the nation’s No. 20 overall prospect according to the On3 Consensus. A number of mock drafts across the country currently have Moore and the rest of Duke’s starting five as being selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
One of his best games this season came against Appalachian State on Dec. 16. He stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and six assists in a 92-67 blowout.
