3-star wideout Darren Lawrence decommits from Florida

Sanford (Fla.) Seminole three-star wide receiver Darren Lawrence has decommitted from Florida, announcing the news on social media Sunday.

“I would like to thank (Florida) for the opportunity to realize my childhood dreams. At this time though I believe it is in my best interest to reopen my recruitment. I welcome any opportunity to further my academic and athletic career,” Lawrence tweeted.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Lawrence as the No. 529 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle and 84th-best player from the state of Florida.

Sharpsburg (Ga.) Trinity Christian School four-star athlete Aaron Gates is now the only Gators commit in the 2023 recruiting class. He is the No. 257 overall prospect.
