Anthony Richardson compared to Tim Tebow after impressive week 2 stat
In the history of Florida quarterbacks, there’s perhaps no person you’d rather be compared to than Tim Tebow. Following his blazing start to the season, Anthony Richardson is earning those comparisons.
After today’s game, Richardson is the first Gators quarterback to accumulate 100-plus yards passing and 100-plus yards rushing in a game since Tebow.
Back on November 21, 2009, Tebow led the Gators in both passing and rushing yards during a 62-3 victory over Florida International University. While throwing for 215 yards and two touchdowns, Tebow also ran for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Today, it took Richardson just three passes to accumulate 152 yards and two touchdowns throwing the football. Additionally, the electrifying quarterback needed just four rushing attempts to rack-up 115 rushing yards and a touchdown.
While Anthony Richardson has a long way to go to catch up with Tebow and his legacy, the amazing start to his season is unparalleled. However, Tebow didn’t rack up his video game numbers as the team’s backup quarterback.
By making the most of his opportunities, Richardson is sure to earn more.
Anthony Richardson continues to electrify
After his electric game against Florida Atlantic, many wondered what Richardson would do for an encore. It didn’t take him long to keep the momentum going.

On his first throw of the game, he connected with Jacob Copeland for a 75-yard touchdown.
Afterwards, Richardson would stay efficient. On his next opportunity to throw the football, the Florida quarterback delivered another touchdown.
As the weeks go on, it’s going to be hard for Dan Mullen to keep Richardson off the field. When he’s on it, all the Gators do is score.
Later in the game, all of Gainesville held their collective breaths when Richardson came up lame on a long touchdown run. However, Mullen quelled concerns post-game, saying the quarterback’s hamstring simply tightened up, and that he was fine.
Next week against Alabama, Anthony Richardson will have to continue to be like Tim Tebow if the Gators are to defeat the Crimson Tide.
