Anthony Richardson evaluates his Pro Day ahead of NFL Draft
Former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson soared up NFL Draft boards this offseason and his Pro Day affirmed those notions.
The former Gators star could very well make one NFL team very happy, possibly Carolina Panthers at No. 1 overall. Richardson came away impressive to scouts and the quarterback felt he showcased his abilities.
Backflips and hitting roofs aside, Richardson tossed the rock quite well.
“I did tell one team I think I could possibly do 80, so I hit the roof,” Richardson said, via Kevin Brockway. “I tried to showcase that, it didn’t work. Maybe someday I’ll get to showcase that.”
Trick shots, or something like that, aside, Richardson delivered on time and accurately. Although he wanted some throws back.
“I delivered the ball pretty well today,” Richardson said. “Some of them weren’t as great as I wanted to be, but I feel like I threw the ball pretty well, today.”
After going viral a few times in college with his backflips, Richardson did it again at his Pro Day. Although that might be one of the last ones for safety reasons.
“I’m getting older, so, my body won’t be able to hold up, back flipping,” Richardson said. “So we’ll see.”

Richardson, or any of the other top three signal callers, could go No. 1 to the Panthers. Right now, C.J. Stroud is the reported preference.
But certainly Frank Reich and the Carolina brass will think about it.
“They do have the number one pick,” Richardson said. “In case they were to draft me, I’m just trying to get expectations and just figure out what they need from me and want they want from me as a player and as a quarterback and as a person. That’s the main thing.”
Much was made of Richardson’s physical gifts, and rightfully so, but getting to the right situation is just as important for him. Still, the risk could be worth the reward for either the Panthers, or whichever NFL team takes their shot on the Gators quarterback.
When he was on, he was borderline elite with Florida. But Richardson’s stats, on the surface, didn’t scream otherworldly. Still, the talent is there.
Richardson finished his college career with 3,105 yards, 24 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, a 54.7% completion percentage, 1,116 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
