Good news for the Florida Basketball team. Two Gator players who suffered injuries over the offseason are reportedly both healed up and ready to get started with practice. According to college hoops insider Jon Rothstein, guard Kyle Lofton and wing Will Richard are both set to return to the court. Here was what he tweeted regarding the two:

“Florida’s Will Richard (knee) has been fully cleared for all basketball related activities, per Todd Golden. Transfer from Belmont.

Kyle Lofton (groin) should be fully cleared for all basketball related activities by Wednesday. Transfer from St. Bonaventure.”

A big boost for the Gator perimeter to get the pair of transfers back healthy before preseason practice really ramps up. Lofton, especially, is projected to fill a crucial role as a super-senior in Gainesville as the likely starting point guard for new head coach Todd Golden. The former Bonnie averaged over five assists per game each of the last two seasons and was a consistent scorer as well at the mid-major level, averaging right at 14 points across his four years at St. Bonaventure. A huge addition for the Gators that they need to have healthy.

As for Richard, he’s a younger piece. He flashed as a freshman at Belmont in 2022, averaging 12 points and six rebounds a game while also showcasing an ability to knock down threes. And defensively, he ended up with more than a steal per game while also finishing second on the team in blocked shots. A young, versatile player with a bright future at Florida. Very important to have him healthy during a developmental year like this.

Those aren’t the only transfers for the Gators, either. The Gators are stocked with transfers. New ones like Lofton and Richard, and others, like Colin Castleton and Myreon Jones, who have been around a little while but were once transfers as well.

A lot to try to blend together for Todd Golden. Luckily, injuries are no longer getting in his way.
