Cam Carroll thanks fans for well-wishes after injury, says he'll 'be back soon'
On Friday, Florida running back Cam Carroll suffered a lower-body injury during a preseason scrimmage. The sixth-year senior was carted off the field due to his injury. Later on Friday, Carroll spoke out on his condition on social media.
“God’s testimony is greater than any trial or tribulation. I appreciate and have much love for gator nation!!! I will be back soon!!” Carroll wrote on Twitter.
Carroll spent his first five seasons at Tulane before transferring to Florida this offseason. While with Tulane, the 6-foot running back rushed for a total of 1,233 yards and 19 touchdowns. Carroll suffered an injury in 2022, which prevented him from participating last season.
“For me entering the portal it was a well-thought-out decision,” Carroll said last week. “Once I entered, Coach Juluke reached out to me. I sent him my transcript. I talked to Coach Napier and it felt like home. Being able to be in a room like Trevor and Montrell it obviously would scare a lot of people. But me personally I took it as an opportunity to not only learn from them but also grow.”
The outlook for Cam Carroll
While Carroll’s injury sets the Gators back, it doesn’t spell utter disaster. The team still boasts Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne in the backfield, both of which nearly ran for 1,000 yards in 2022. Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke claims Carroll wasn’t afraid to hop in with the competitive unit.

Florida to retain head coach
“People that he trained with, they trust me that I wouldn’t tell him or give him a bill of sale, I tell him the truth. He’s coming in, he’s gonna compete, you know, start from the bottom and work his way up,” Juluke said back in spring. “(Cam has) accepted the challenge, and he’s looking forward to it.
“He understands the game, he’s just got to try to get the two terminologies across in his head right now,” Juluke said. “So, he’s got to get that out of the way, just focus on what we’re doing and he should be able to help us somewhere down the line.”
Unfortunately for Gators fans, Carroll’s Florida debut may be further down the line than originally expected. On Aug. 31, Florida will kick off its 2023 campaign in a matchup against No. 14 Utah. Until then, keep an eye out for any more updates from the horse’s mouth.
