WATCH: Dameon Pierce breaks seven tackles on run setting up his game-winning touchdown
The Texans’ rookie running back continues to make the team look brilliant for its decision in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, proving to everyone Houston got an absolute steal out of its Dameon Pierce draft pick.
The former Florida running back emerged as the team’s starting running back in training camp and has really started to find a groove for the Texans over the past few weeks. On Sunday, he turned in one of his craziest highlight-reel plays yet, dragging multiple defenders in the red zone on a run in which he broke seven different tackles on a 20-yard gain.
Pierce’s carry brought the Texans all the way to the 2-yard line with less than five minutes to play in a game tied 6-6 in the fourth quarter, then he punched in the go-ahead score in a 13-6 Houston win over Jacksonville moments later.
The Dameon Pierce draft pick is quickly turning into one of the league’s best. Houston has a bona fide NFL starter at running back out of the fourth round, with Pierce just starting to hit his stride.
Dameon Pierce usage ticking up for Texans
Pierce saw 11 touches in his debut for Houston last month, but he has steadily seen his usage increase throughout the season.
