As Billy Napier looks to put his stamp on the Florida program, he needs veteran players to buy in and work to change the culture. One of those veteran players who Napier is looking to is a tight end, Dante Zanders. This comes after he had previously been moved from tight end to defensive line and Zanders spent time in the transfer portal. It was out of necessity that he had to move back to tight end this offseason.

During a press conference, Billy Napier heaped praise on tight end Dante Zanders.

“Dante Zanders is, where would we be without the guy, right now?” Billy Napier asked. “You know, I mean, I think he’s been a godsend and certainly what a great kid to be around.”

“I mean, he’s got a great story. I can still remember when we first got here and he walks in the office, you know, and he’s thinking about leaving. It’s a great story.”

“But, we had a couple of injuries in Spring ball. He makes the move. He’s a very bright kid, he picked it up quickly. And I think the guy’s got a future. I mean, he’s six-foot-five 260 pounds. He’s heavy-handed, strong at the point of attack, he can run, he can catch, and he’s smart enough to process it all. You know, and I think to play that position you gotta be very intelligent,” Billy Napier said.

Dante Zanders was a consensus three-star recruit from the Class of 2018. That means he committed to play under Jim McElwain. With plenty of experience now, he should be a key player for Billy Napier’s offense.
