DJ Lagway injury update: Florida QB seen using crutches after halftime
After leaving Saturday’s game against Georgia on a cart, Florida QB DJ Lagway returned to the sidelines after halftime on crutches. He also appeared to have a compression sleeve on his left leg after suffering a hamstring injury.
Lagway went down on a designed run with 5:01 to play in the rivalry game and immediately grabbed his left hamstring. The cart came out, ending his day as Aidan Warner came in to replace him the rest of the way.
At the time of his injury, Lagway looked impressive as Florida took an early lead on No. 2-ranked Georgia. He completed 2-of-6 passes for 47 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Mizell to capitalize on Carson Beck’s first interception of the day. Lagway also added 18 rushing yards before his departure.
At halftime, as Florida held a 13-6 lead over Georgia, Gators coach Billy Napier confirmed Lagway suffered a hamstring injury. He didn’t have many details, but called it “pretty significant.”

“He’s got a hamstring,” Napier told ABC’s Holly Rowe on his way to the locker room. “Pretty significant one. But he’s a tough kid. Look, I can promise you one thing, this team will rally behind him for sure.”
Lagway was starting in place of the injured Graham Mertz after arriving on campus as a highly rated recruit this year. In seven appearances this year, he has completed 62.8% of his passes for 1,024 yards and five touchdowns.
DJ Lagway arrived in Gainesville this year as a Five Star Plus+ prospect, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star.
