Willis (Texas) four-star 2024 quarterback DJ Lagway is set to announce his commitment on December 7, with a group consisting of Clemson, LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, USC, Alabama, Baylor, and Oklahoma as his finalists.
But with a little more than three weeks until the announcement, one team is trending as the significant favorite to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Florida now holds a 72.3 percent chance of securing his commitment, with the Gators receiving an expert pick from On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman earlier this week.

Spiegelman explained his prediction on Thursday during On3’s Inside Scoop recruiting show:
“I’m going for Florida with Lagway, and I think throughout the fall Florida and Clemson have been the two teams steadily recruiting him. And I think that’s been a theme since before Sept. 1 and has only continue afterward. Obviously he has visited Florida twice, was just in Clemson last month, he’s been to Baylor and Texas A&M and he’s supposed to go to USC. But after these visits, Florida and Clemson were the two teams I’ve continued to hear about — and Florida in particular.”
Lagway is the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 On300 rankings.
DJ Lagway Scouting Summary
“Strong-armed quarterback prospect who possesses a thicker build with solid measurables for the position. Checked in at 6-foot-2.3 and 225 pounds during the camp circuit prior to his junior season. Has the arm strength to make throws at every level of the field, including ones from the far hash. Efficient with his movements in the pocket and comfortable working outside the pocket. Arm talent shines when forced to throw from multiple arm slots or off-platform. Will need to continue progressing with his accuracy as a passer – completed 55 percent of his passes as a sophomore at under 7 yards per attempt. A touted two-sport athlete who has also received multiple Power Five offers as a baseball player.”
